Why I Created This Program

From Exhaustion to “Whole-y-ness”: My Journey to The Holistic Shift

The Wall at 38

As I approached my 38th birthday, I hit a wall I didn’t see coming. For years, I had defined health by "more." More sweat, more miles, more intensity.

My weekdays began at 5:30 AM with CrossFit, swimming, or boot camp.

My weekends were filled with Zumba and aerial arts. I even crossed the finish line of my first half-marathon at 40 just to prove I could.

But despite the gruelling schedule and eating the same small, "healthy" portions that helped me lose weight in college, the scale wouldn’t budge. In fact, I was gaining weight. I was exhausted, frustrated, and—eventually—broken.

The Breaking Point

The turning point came not from a choice, but from necessity. Chronic hip pain forced me to stop running. I was terrified. I truly believed that if I stopped the high-intensity cardio, I would "bulk up" or lose control of my body entirely.

I was told to swap the pavement for weights and bodyweight exercises. In that shift, I made a life-altering discovery: The traditional advice we are given as women is wrong.

I realized that what worked for me in my 20s—and what worked for my husband to drop a few pounds—was actually working against my perimenopausal biology. I learned that fat loss in this stage of life is less about how much you exercise and more about how you nourish your body.

By adopting a gentler, hormone-supporting approach to movement and a specific way of eating for this life stage, the impossible happened: I dropped three dress sizes and 10% of my body fat.

The Birth of
The Holistic Shift

When the pandemic hit, I knew I couldn't keep these tools confined to my local clinic. I founded the Whole-y Healed Community to reach women everywhere, providing a safe, private space away from the noise of social media.

This led to the creation of The Holistic Shift - a group coaching course designed specifically for women in perimenopause. It is more than a weight loss program; it is a repeatable, science-backed, and soul-led solution to reclaiming your vibrancy.

Discovering SoulCore and “Whole-y-ness”

During this transition, I found SoulCore. It was a revelation. It offered a way to tone my body while simultaneously nourishing my soul through mindfulness and prayer.

As a Physical Therapist, I began to see a recurring theme in my practice. Women were coming to me feeling lost, ignored by traditional medicine, and trapped in bodies they no longer recognized. I began integrating infrared light therapy and myofascial release with the nutritional and spiritual shifts I had discovered.

I realized a profound truth: Everything that affects our soul affects our body, and vice versa. Our minds cannot thrive unless we support them with physical habits.

I call this concept “Whole-y-ness.”

  • Not at all.  This is just a shift designed as a way to change the way you think about food, but it does not limit you to the foods you will eat or the portions you will eat after the shift is over.  In fact, the course gives you plenty of variety of new foods to try as soon as the shift is over that you can start adding them into your diet, but still remain at or achieve your ideal weight!  The course material also covers other healthy plans that you may want to try after the Holistic Shift is complete.  You will find there is so much variety that you are always satisfied, but you will still continue to lose weight as long as you want! 

  • The course materials specifically cover how to cook for not only yourself but also to make it work for your family to save time. You will learn how to add certain foods that your family is accustomed to eating to what you already made, but at the same time, they may become healthier as they see you model good food choices and see how great you look and feel after losing so much weight in just 8 weeks!

  • Of course, you will!  The Holistic Shift materials include specific tips and tricks that teach you how to order at a restaurant to eat out and order delicious, whole, organic, unprocessed meals and how you can even get them prepared for you and delivered to your door for the same price as going out to a fast food restaurant to save you time and money!!

  • There are substitutions for all the proteins and vegetables in this omnivore eating plan.  You can swap out any proteins with nuts, seeds, tubers, or other animal proteins, but plant-based proteins like beans and grains have too many carbohydrates for efficient fat burning.  If you are Vegetarian/Vegan, this is NOT the plan for you.

  • NO! This program is built around having “Variety Days”- celebrations (like birthdays, weddings, holidays) and vacations.  We don’t want you to deprive yourself of any life events, food or drink that comes with them.  You still eat normal foods on this program, so it’s easy to stick with it while traveling and you learn how to “Eat Smart”!

  • You can expect to lose 1-2 lbs a week, depending on your starting weight.  But we encourage you not to look at the scale too much as you go through the Holistic Shift, because the real thing you will notice is the inches you lose as you burn fat for fuel and how toned you look as you gain  muscle.  If you don’t change your body composition  by the end of the 8 weeks, we recommend checking in with a holistic doctor to run a thyroid/hormone/antibody panel.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: This isn’t about weight-loss as much as it is about “fat-loss”.  You will need to eat enough protein to keep muscle, so focus on non-scale victories, like how you look in your progress photos and how many inches you lose.
